The Cowan girls varsity basketball team overcame an 11-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to tie Burris but couldn't get over the hump in a 54-49 loss Thursday on the road. Elizabeth Sizemore continued her hot shooting, making seven 3-pointers for a team-high 21 points. Vannah Hall added 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Alyssa Stevens had team highs of eight assists and three steals. Madison Norris chipped in eight points, and Savannah Bowling scored four points off the bench. The Blackhawks return to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Wes-Del in the first round of the sectional at Tri-Central sectional.
