On Tuesday, April 8th, he Cowan Blackhawks were victorious in thier first game against Union City. Gentry Groves, Luke Garrett, and Thomas Brooks all threw for the Blackhawks. G. Groves threw 3 innings and struck out 5, Thomas Brooks threw 1 inning, struck out 2, and Luke Garrett threw 3 innings and struck out a career high 5. The Blackhawks tallied 6 hits with Gentry Groves and Brody Clifford having multiple hits. Other Blackhawks had huge moments, such as Chase Matson with a great dirt ball read and Jake Self with a huge sacrifice bunt. The Blackhawks also gathered 8 stolen bases on the evening. Thomas Brooks led the way with two stolen bases. The Blackhawks are back in action Thursday evening to open up conference play against Eastern Hancock with a 5:30 start time.
