The Cowan junior high girls’ basketball team built a 7-2 early lead against Selma but couldn’t hold on in a 29-19 home loss Thursday to Selma. Kylee Bergstrom grabbed 16 rebounds and scored nine points, barely missing a double-double, for Cowan. Regan Gill pitched in six rebounds and a basket, and Kaylee Belcher and Bryleigh Hiatt scored four points apiece for the Blackhawks, who return to action with a Mid-Eastern Conference tournament game at home Monday against Union.
