Girls Varsity Cross Country · Lady Blackhawks Take 6th Place at Regional Meet; 2 Runners Advance

The Lady Blackhawks ran a strong race to finish in 6th place in the team standings at the IHSAA Regional #8 Meet held at the Muncie Sportsplex on October 19. No Cowan girls cross country team has had a higher finish at a regional meet.

Sophomore Lauren Smith and freshman McKenna Minton both earned the right to compete at the New Haven Semi-State meet next Saturday.
Smith will be competing in the Semi-State meet for the second year in a row. She turned in a time of 20:27.9 to place 10th, an improvement of 12 places from last year’s regional meet.
Minton set a new PR of 21:10.9 to earn her first trip to semi-state.

Freshman Brynn Wright ran a strong race and finished within two seconds of her PR to finish as Cowan’s third runner.
Senior Alexis Quirk ended her high school career with a determined effort to finish fourth for the team.
