The Cowan Girls track team competed in their first meet of the season on April 7 in Elwood. The Lady Blackhawks scored 60 points to earn the team win over Daleville and Elwood.
A senior and two sophomores led the team by winning individual events. Sophomore Madi Howell earned wins in both the high jump and 100 m dash, Senior Sophia Smith won the shot put and placed second in the discus, and Sophomore Brynn Wright won the 3200 m run and was runner-up in the 1600.
All of the relay teams scored points. The team of Ashlynn Keith, Cricket Morey, Crism Morey, and Brynn Wright won the 4 x 800. Madison Bolton, Mallory Combs, Brianna Hall, and Madi Howell teamed up to earn second place in the 4 x 100. The team of Madison Bolton, Cricket Morey, Brianna Hall, and Madi Howell wrapped up the evening with a runner-up finish in the 4 x 400.

The girls are scheduled to compete again Saturday morning at Wapahani.
