With all-conference performances from three runners, the Lady Blackhawks won the 2019 MEC Cross Country Championship Meet hosted by Blue River Valley on October 5th. This was the Cowan girls’ first cross country title in the MEC since 2009, and sixth overall.

Sophomore Lauren Smith, Freshman McKenna Minton, and Freshman Brynn Wright all finished in the top ten to earn All-MEC honors. Smith ran her season best of 20:59.4 to take third place, and earn all-conference for the second year in a row. Minton ran within two seconds of her personal best to claim fifth place in 21:40. Wright took tenth place by running a time of 22:19.3, an incredible improvement of almost a minute and a half from her previous best.

Seniors Alexis Quirk and Reanne Brinker both ran their lifetime best times in their last conference meet. Quirk lowered her best time by almost 40 seconds and finished in 20th place in 24:17.4. Brinker willed her way to 21st place in 24:19.3.

Freshman Crism Morey set her personal best with a run of 25:02 and came in 26th
